Matthew McConaughey Launches New Clothing Line, JKL

Actor, philanthropist, and father-of-three Matthew McConaughey has a new title to put under his belt: fashion designer! The star recently partnered with Canadian-based clothing manufacturer Grand National Apparel to launch JKL, a sportswear collection derived from McConaughey’s active lifestyle and philosophy of life.

The line features technically-advanced fabrics, performance-oriented details, and a relaxed, casual aesthetic designed to easily transition between day and casual evening. The line also donates to a charitable cause! A portion of sales supports McConaughey’s just keep livin Foundation a non-profit organization that implements after-school fitness and wellness programs in inner-city high schools.

"Matthew's very active lifestyle is what led him to the idea for a fashion-forward, functional men's clothing line that blends the fabric and styling of performance apparel with that of everyday menswear," said John Frierson of Creative Artists Agency (CAA), who brokered the deal with Grand National Apparel for McConaughey. "There remains a big expanse between casual menswear and performance brands at retail, and JKL, fueled by Grand National's expertise and capabilities, is poised to take advantage of this big growth opportunity."

In an interview McConaughey stated the meaning behind the brand's name.

“JKL stands for just keep livin. In 1992, my father moved on and just keep livin came to be,” Matthew shared. ” It was about keeping his spirit alive and remembering the things he taught me. The tag line is a compass for me; it is how I approach life.”

“No matter where the road takes you, no matter what’s up ahead, you’ve got to just keep going,” McConaughey said. “That’s a big part of what we try to show the kids through our foundation and it’s a huge part of the JKL brand.”

Matthew McConaughey’s JKL men’s collection is now available at Dillard’s and Dillards.com
